Should i start martial arts at 17?

Yes, go ahead and start martial arts. There's no such thing as too old, martial arts are for any age.

Don't worry about your physique or how strong you are. Martial arts are designed for anyone, and strength does not matter much in martial arts. And don't worry, everyone that starts out has no knowledge on martial arts. Everyone starts as a beginner. No one will laugh at or make fun of you. If you want to start training, just go ahead, you'll be fine.

Many people start training even older than you.

I started at around your age but really seriously at about age 20.

It's really not about age but more on your mental and your psychological age.

If you are concerned then do some exercises on your own first.

Jog, run a few minutes 3x a week or everyday, as you will need endurance.

Maybe even some light strength training.

Do stretching exercises as you would need to be limber when you do taekwondo.

And stop thinking about your weaknesses but on your potential or what you can become.

Go for it.

Then check it out there is nothing wrong with tae kwon do.

Then proceed with caution and see where you are lead.

i am 17 year old male and physically weak. i am skinny fat... . ... now there is a martial art class(Tae kwon do) near my home.... can i train there.... i am very much interested now on my fitness and self defense... ( i am always considered by others as a weak kid all my life)...i am never encouraged by my elders to play any sports in my childhood so i am physically inactive... But my real problem is my knowledge on martial art is zero and never perform any kind of martial art neither played any sport... i think other people will laugh at me... but my heart wants me to train
