Should I start kickboxing?

by all means either kickboxing or muay thai whitch is similar but involves elbows stay away from cardio kickboxing. you soccer kicking will transfer over nicely. i love the kickboxing so fun feel free to email if youve any qutions martial arts related

Muay Thai is a great sport. I'm 16 and I've been taking it since 13. It's not much of as a workout as soccer would be. As starting you would need to know that you have to be willing to spar people. Sparing is the only way to learn to actually fight, besides training. I've starting sparing at 15 and from 13-15 I felt like I waisted my time. Pick up sparring early on if you decide to do Muay Thai. Keep in mind in Muay Thai you will be learning clinches, knees, foot jabs, elbows, etc... I am very good at boxing but it made my Thai sloppy cause I was lead heavy. In Thai you want to be 30/70 or in any case, not heavy on your lead foot cause you wanna be able to kick. Soccer won't help you at Muay Thai as much as people tell you. Muay Thai is core and hips but completely different from soccer. It's never too late to start, my buddy who is 19 has been doing it since 16 and he is great. He competes in seminars often. Please don't go to a gym that offers cardio work, go to a real place.

why give up soccer? its a great sport. why not add the kickboxing 1 night a week?

It will make you a better person physically and mentally. Take a trial class and see if it's something you like or something worth investing your time in.

DO IT

Iam a 16 year old girl and recently decided Im not going to play soccer this season, and want something to keep/get me in better shape as well as improve my overall strength. Is kickboxing a good overall workout? And how do I make sure a gym is legit and reputable? Im also kind of scared and nervous, as I have never done any sort of martial art..any advice or experiences?
