No one has a personal coach. Tyson got one after his talent was discovered. He went to class with 10 other guys and he trained. That's the way it is.
If you can't find a good gym or even a decent one in your area then it's better not to train martial arts at all. I think it's better to learn nothing then to pick up bad habits from crappy schools. Stay in shape, go and do some sparing with some old friends, whatever and when you get the chance to train again go and train again.
$500 a session is how you get personal training. That is the going rate here.
So I had the perfect mma gym and I had really great boxing, muay thai, and bjj teachers so I know what a good gym is. The teachers were all professionals, the muay thai teachers were both lumpinee champions and it was just such a great place. Almost all of the guys were fighters and I loved the place so much. However we had to move to the sunset district of san francisco, which only has taekwondo and kung fu schools there and one muay thai gym, but it is unbearable to train there because it is filled with soccer moms and fat hipsters that think they are experts in muay thai. (I'm not being sexist because there were female fighters at my old gym ,but you could tell these are soccer moms) My old muay thai teacher taught me really cool combos that he used when competing in Thailand and when I did these at the new gym they told me I was elbowing wrong or something like that. They think you can only do one type of elbow, the conditioning is awful I just don't like the gym. What can I do? What ever happened to old fashion learning how to fight with a personal coach at a gym rather than taking classes with others. Like i'm sure Tyson didn't learn how to box in a structured class of adults he had a personal coach. How can I get one BTW I'm 16.
