Muay Thai is a very hardcore martial art,if you have some knowledge of karate before hand, muay Thai will be very easier for you,so don't back out, after all karate, wing chun, muay Thai, taewkondo are similar in many ways

You can absolutely start karate now it will be a great baseline to prepare you for the transition into Thai later on.

While the styles vary, especially the two you're speaking of the discipline, feel of being in the studio, working with others, and beginning to learn kata and practicing repetition are great starts. In my experience training and practicing myself coming into a martial art with previous experience in any style puts you at a great advantage over someone that has never trained at all.

Go for it now, learn what you can and take that knowledge with you it will help you tremendously and prepare you to advance quicker in your passion.

To make sure you are clear on Karate, it developed in Okinawa and was later introduced into Japan. Now, there are Okinawan and Japanese styes of Karate.

The questions in my mind are:

What style or Karate is available to you?

Is the style commercialized or Americanized?

Do they require contracts?

Do they take small children and promote them to black belt?

These are signs of a bad martial arts school. If you find that they have more than one of these, then I'd be inclined to look for a different school.

I am 16 years old male.I am planing to start martial art.Only available martial art to me now in karate. But i am really passionate about muay thai.I can get access to muay thai 2 years later due to some circumstances.Should i start karate and after 2 years start muay thai or should i wait for now?Is it gonna be bad for me adapting to a new style?
