Well, they are your parents. So what they say goes right? Do you think they are saying that just to mess with you? For a power trip?
You can listen and respect there authority or go against them and lose any trust they have that you respect there authority and probably lose the sword as well. Any authority over you should be respected. If you are learning any sort of martial art a big part should be respect, show respect.
Your parents are trying to protect you and are probably concerned that you will kill them in their sleep.
Why do you feel the need to have so many sharp blades?
If you want to have a sharp sword then you need to be responsible with it,people have been known to accidentally cut of their own fingers and hands by not using them properly. At 15 I highly doubt that you have the maturity to be a responsible sword owner and I strongly suggest that you get some psychological help.
My weapons are my friends, when they need help (sharpened) I help them. Haha, seriously just sharpen it. I'm not saying rebel against your parents or anything which you probably already knew. Show them that you can do it safely, then hopefully they will let you. If not, well, its up to you.
But then as you have just said it is going to sit in your room so why do you feel that you need it sharpened?
If its in your room then would they know if you had sharpened it or not?
So I want to sharpen this sword i have in my room but my parents wont let me. While I am 15 I own multiple machetes and about a dozen pocket knives so I have no idea why parents have such a problem with me sharpening my sword. They keep on bringing up that "its a dangerous weapon. You could hurt somebody" and yeah I understand that because I could give it a razor sharp edge with some of the stones I own. But its just gonna sit in my room anway. Plus all the kitchen knives are razor blades because I sharpened them and they have no problem with that so why would they have a problem with a sharpened sword? Can someone help me convince them? (The sword is fully functional, just unsharpened.)
