My body shuts down in jiujitsu tournaments?

What the hell are you cutting weigh for????? seriously if you are fat then compete on the fat division. lets not pretend your just chubby for a day if you are fat. (not saying you are fat its just an example)

Cutting so much weight is ridiculous especially when grappling tournaments allow you a weight range weigh in. Just stay up in the higher weigh bracket and compete like a normal person.

The body doesnt give up after a minute (EVER) that is the mind giving up not the body, so if the body is giving up either you were outclassed or the body was not ready for the fight due to not prepared or loss of too much weight.

Well, that certainly could be responsible. All that weight loss just before the match is fluid. With that much fluid loss your aerobic capacity would go WAY down... And sounds like that's exactly what happened.

Your aerobic fitness... Your "stamina", is heavily dependent on fluid levels in your body... Blood has to flow to muscle tissue, blood has to carry wastes away from muscle tissue.

A loss of only a few percentage points of overall fluid levels can cause a drastic reduction in aerobic capacity.

You're competing at a higher setting than normal. Whereas in training you maybe going 70 or 80%, in tournaments people tend to go 100%. Also tack onto it your weight cut and the added stress and anxiety that comes from competing and your body is going to shut down, because it's not use to it. Was this your first tournament? If so, then thats why.

My advice to you is to compete more. And stop weight cutting, most people don't weight cut in grappling tournaments, unless they're a pound or two off. This isn't a fight. Go in at your weight class.

ok so i competed yesterday im a blue belt and we go hard in our practices cosch even makes me go 15 minutes of rolling no stopping and i can hang, but in the tournament match i was like 1 minute in and my body could just not take it , i know i was way better than the guy and i could of beat him but my body just gave up .... could it be because i cut 12 lbs in a week And we weigh in right before we fight? also i had to loose 3lbs 30 minutes before weigh ins to make weight... i lost because the guy had me i a armbar , i knew i could get out but my body just shut down
