MMA Versus Tae Kwan Do?

Which is tougher physically?

If you had a 160 pound tae kwan doer and pitted him against a 160 pound MMA fighter, who has the upper-hand?

It's not the art or the size of the fighter that makes a better fighter, it's the skill & the experience of the fighter that makes him a better fighter!

Its impossible to judge the outcome, If i was a well trained MMA fighter and i knew the other guy was a champion in TKD then my entire game plan would be to close the gap, take down, wrestle, ground and pound and then submit them or pound them into submission.. The TKD fighter would obviously want to keep the fight standing and at a range. So if the fight goes the the ground then its probably good night to the TKD fighter, however if its kept standing then the edge would perhaps go to the TKD champion

The MMA fighter could be blinded by the thought of rushing to the ground and be knocked out in thier haste. The difference is that with both styles standing and fighting then i give the slight edge to the TKD fighter however its a slight edge because both are well versed in standing to fight and when you are standing anything is possible. If it goes to the ground then i give it a clear and easy victory to the MMA fighter unless the TKD guy is lucky enough to get back to his feet, but that would be reliant on a mistake from the MMA fighter.

This ofc is all hypothetical and based solely on a game plan probable of being utilised by both fighters. Howvever fights dont usually go to plan and this is why we say styles are impossible to judge because it really depends on the fighters skills and what mistake they make and/or can capitalize on.

Really depends on the skill level of each, but if all things are equal, than the better money is on the MMA fighter since s/he has more experience with close in and ground technique.

As to who is tougher, that's a bit trickier, since toughness is a vague term. Do you mean to say 'who is the better fighter'? or 'who can take the most punishment (this would be closer to the contextual meaning of tough)'? It really doesn't matter since "toughness" is conveyed by neither; toughness is a matter will and perseverance.

Considering how most TKD fighters train and if you put that against a well trained MMA fighter then the TKD fighter would lose. Besides MMA is a far more rounded art then TKD.

mma is a generic term

tkd is part of mma so your question makes no sense

nhb (no holds barred )is a better term to use but it never caught on

or perhaps cage fighting

it is best to learn all 3 facets of fighting that is striking , clinching (grappling)

and ground fighting

mma is a mixture of various arts for that person. Most Tae kwon do utilize kicks

Styles don't fight, only people do.

The better fighter would win.

mma has upperhand over just about everything

id put my money on the mma fighter but idk.
