Taekwondo is about your skill, swiftness, and flexibility

Gyms are for strength, agility, and vitality

You can weightlift to enchance your punches, try punching with weights in the Gym, then in training you'll feel like you can punch faster than ever.

If you wish to be good in taekwondo sparrings,

- Go and enchance those leg muscles for kicking and arm muscles for punchin and defensing,

- Run every once in a while for Stamina,

- Do multiple kicks to make the technique faster and less tiresome afterwhile,

- Do constant streching for faster and higher kicking.

-Practice Kicks, Punches, Blocks, Evasions, Counter-Attax

- Take proper diet/meal and sleep

- Dont over train yourself, Dont even sprain/strain yourself while warming up

- Practice sparring with a friend or sibling perhaps

- Create new combos or special techniques

The best way to get better at Taekwondo is to practice Taekwondo. You "should be" getting a decent workout each class. In addition to the exercise you're getting in Taekwondo class, you should read books on "sports specific" weight training for your sport which in your case is Taekwondo, although karate is similar enough to Taekwondo so you can also read books on sport specific weight training for karate. Taekwondo requires more than just weight training, so make sure you don't lopside your training to concentrate too much on weight training.

I′ll help you out. for TKD big muscles will make you slow.

you want fast twitch fibered muscles.

Get a book by máster hee il cho. I think másters kick is the one. its shows various weights training. you want more reps and less weight. but really your best bet is to go to tkd practice. and do tournaments

I began practicing taekwondo 2 months ago but I also wanted to go to the gym and lift some weights to gain muscle mass and strength . is it bad to do weight lifting while practicing taekwondo ? Will it make me less flexible, slower or less efficient ? Also what exercises should I perform to be better at sparring and generally stronger without going to the gym ? Thanks in advance
