Kyokushin and Systema?

It depends on your martial arts goal and your rank. You cannot serve two masters especially in this case since both arts are fundamentally different from each other.Kyokushin is considered a hard art focusing body conditioning and mental strength while Systema is considered a soft style in term of application using the opponents force against them.

You would have to unlearn certain habits developed from your Kyokushin training and it would be counterproductive. My advise to you would be as follows

- If your goal is self defense choose a system similar to you style like krav maga

- If you want to try Systema i think you should drop Kyokushin or vice versa

-If you are a high ranking Kyokushin practitioner then you can try both.

In the long run you will get more from the Systema training I think. KK will give you a good base in a hard fighting style but lacks a lot of things for comprehensive self defence. It will also get harder on your body as you get older - trouble is by the time people realise it, the damage to knees, etc has been done

That's really up to you. Can you take a trial class? Try a class to see if you like it. If you can't, I'm sure they will let you sit and watch a class as well.

Systema is dominant in my view especially if you condition the lung and heart the right way the liver follows.

Hi all,

Around my place, I are currently training in Kyokushin. It is twice a week.

And lately I heard about Systema and it looks good for Self-defense but the Systema schedule (once a week)

overlapses with my Kyokushin training.

I really want to train Systema but I have seen good and bad talking about Systema so now I am not 100% sure.

But if I am going to train in Systema I will have to drop one class of my Kyokushin training. is it a good idea to drop one kykushin class for Systema's class? or should I focus only on my Kyokushin twice a week?

I hope you can give me some thoughts!

Thanks,

Chan
