Karate JKA vs Karate Non-JKA?

Posted at: 2014-09-13
What makes the JKA more "traditional" than other organizations or non-affiliated schools? I'd actually say they're LESS traditional than several schools, just because karate got modified when it came to Japan in order to popularize it.

Are you happy at your current club? Do you think you'll be happier at the other club? Those are the important questions. Martial arts, despite claims that it's a "way of life", is really a hobby for the majority of the people who do it. You should enjoy your hobby. If you're not, find a new one.

What's your goal in karate?

JKA is enough to be labelled as a 'true traditional' branch of karate. Though traditional karate is only a training mindset and methodology. Technical advancements comes from learning karate as close to karate as possible and not reliance on a single method.

If you are generally curious and definitely want to learn 'traditional' karate above all else. Then you can go to a JKA governed branch.

Traditional does not necessarily means better. It's only different from other approaches. How good you are at karate comes from sources e.g. teachers who knows karate more than the context of traditionalism, sport, performance, stage combat etc.

JKA trained hard when I was a member. I left them for my reasons.

They tried to remove most grappling from karate, and then it doesn't work, it just becomes kickboxing.

I don't know if they changed that back yet.

The old style Shotokan dojo are by far the best of the JKA dojo.

that said, pick the teacher, not a name of some style or other. The teacher makes all the difference.

why are you creating new accounts just to rip on non jka dojo's.

the jka is only one organization of many and is not even the oldest or the largest. the jka lost a lot of members after nakiyama sensei passing and was split.

there are plenty of instructors that are non-jka that are just as good as jka

edit:>

@karate explain to me how he posted something on your question yesterday when he created his account today.

incidentally i saw both of your questions yesterday including the one you deleted. he never posted on either one of them

@kokora, this dude was on my question yesterday and kept b.s'ing about how I was "full of it" he's a keyboard warrior take no notice of him he clearly has learnt 0 martial arts! Take it from me bro don't stick to karate, get the hell out of there asap! And learn bjj, mma, etc anything that doesn't make you wait to do full contact strikes! @kokora, you are a childish fool who spends his/her life infront of a computer screen, I think you spend too much time watching karate movies then actually practising it since you reply to questions so quickly when they are posted and somehow have a massive points accumulation, you are actually "FULL OF IT".

Would like advise pls, my karate club is not part of the JKA, should I quit and join the JKA club because its traditional or shall I stay put I'm a green belt, but doubting if I should stay? Thank you
