Is taekwondo better than kickboxing?

It depends. A taekwondo black belt who has not come out of a mcdojo can easily beat a kickboxer in the streets, simply because taekwondo was built to be used in war, and to all of those people who think kickboxing is better because it utilizes the hands, taekwondo stresses the feet because korean people thought that hands were too valuable to be used in war, lest they get damaged.

But kickboxing would demolish a taekwondo practitioner in the ring, because kickboxers train in both hands and feet, and your hands just are another weapon in the ring, where there are a lot of rules. Kickboxing also puts you in far better shape in terms of cardio and agility, but taekwondo practitioners have better balance and flexibility. Strength and speed is almost equal between kickboxing and taekwondo.

Hell no. Kickboxing is so much better. I see so many child blackbelts in taekwondo it's unreal. There's so many Mcdojos in taekwondo as well. The students also seem to be really big headed, that's not all of them by the way, just a majority. They have a false sense of security, thinking their bought belt will save them from anything.... until they meet real martial artists.

I know that this isn't all taekwondo. But I feel the art has been somewhat wrecked by the child blackbelts, mcdojos and bribes.

neither is better then the other, there is no best style it depends upon the person.

most kick boxing is a stripped down version of karate with all the kata and grappling removed. tkd still kept most of its grappling although not many people teach that aspect of it.

it comes down to how well you know your style and how good you are at it

You have to wear a uniform in taekwondo, kickboxing is recommended if you don't wish to wear a uniform

NOTHING, but if you ask is kickboxing better than TKD, i'll give the same anwer, TKD and muaythai had long story about them, it used to fight invander long time ago, all depend on personal. how hard train they were and how discipine they were

it depends. I prefer kickboxing though. It evens out the punch and kick usage.

Is gardening better for relaxation than going for a walk?

Is ketchup a better condiment than mustard?

This is all up to personal preference, the way the school teaches, and the practitioner. Considering how many reasons people practice martial arts, it makes little sense to even ask this question. Which one is better on the basis of what? Self defense? Fitness? Spiritual growth? Awareness? All subjective.

Taekwondo is mainly a offensive and defensive sport, where kickboxing is more for exercise, not requiring forms, which are kata to perform. Kickboxing also does not give out Belts when you move up in rank.

Choose the style that meets your reason to get into the sport, for exercise or learning to defend yourself.

Yes. Taekwondo is WAAYY better than kickboxing.
