Is muay thai good for someone like me?

Sure thing! Muay Thai is an amazing martial art and believe it or not I've even seen kids as young as 10 perform it (under supervision of course).

It's always good to know something to defend yourself, I'd take Muay Thai over Aikido any day of the week, don't let anyone tell you which MA "suits you" or not, you're the one who decides at the end of the day.

i'm 5'6 and 120lbs (well i was a few months ago lol) and i have done Muay Thai for many years now and it is something i am very glad i began doing. You height and weight mean little when it comes to martial arts. Of course there are advantages when it comes to being long and lean but there are also advantages when it comes to being short and stocky.

Martial arts are what you want to make of it. If you want to learn Muay thai then go ahead and do it with a quality instructor and they will teach you the pros and cons of your size and help you to learn skills and strategies that will work in your favour. Enjoy

While you may be very petite in stature that doesn't detract from the effectiveness of Muay Thai as a fighting/defense system. In and of itself, it is designed to devastate your opponent by breaking bones and causing cuts from the strikes you throw. Even a smaller person can be very good at Muay Thai if the have a good instructor. Whether or not you choose to try and compete would be another issue you would discuss with your instructor and your parents, but that would be much farther down the line after you've been trained.

No Muay Thai should never be for women they should gymnastics and tai chi and aikido.

I'm a fifteen year old girl, only a bit above 5 feet tall (I know. -_-), and about 120 pounds. So I'm pretty short and stocky.

But I always found martial arts really cool, and it's only recently that I've been able to ask my mom about it. She doesn't really know what muay thai is about (i.e., she is not aware it uses knees and elbows a lot and causes numerous injuries...) but when I compared it to kickboxing she said she was alright with it. I haven't consulted my father.

I know I'm sort of short, and I don't really have much muscle (though I'm rather fast at running and I have good endurance, if I do say so myself) but I don't think that the martial arts that DO suit me (like aikido or something) are my style.

So my question is, can a person starting from nothing at the age of 15, with a size like mine, and female, really do muay thai, and be good at it? I'd also like to hear suggestions for other martial arts, if you have them.

Thanks c:
