Is kickboxing more effective than boxing?

Posted at: 2014-09-13
When well taught, kickboxing is all boxing is and more. However, it is common for kickboxers to neglect their boxing.

yes it is because it has an extra range

which "most "boxers in general have a hard time dealing with

with x amount of time to choose one should not foget this range

Effective at what, effective for what purpose?

I hate these type of questions because it's like asking what animal on the planet is the most evolved. There is no such thing. Boxing is great for what it teaches and kickboxing is great for what it teaches. You can not compare entire styles like that. You can however compare schools and you can go to a school and point out why this school is good or bad. But just generally asking what is best is pointless.

effective at what?

Kickboxing isn't more effective that traditional boxing in a boxing match.

It's more effective in a kickboxing match.

In other situations it's the skill of the person that matters. Now with this said, most kickboxing in the US is crap and nothing more than fancy aerobics. So that isn't much for a well skilled boxer. But someone who is trained in actually competing in kickboxing would be a big handful for most boxers as they aren't trained to deal with kicks.

So like anything, these "this style is better or more effective than this style" discussion are pretty pointless. The question to you is why are you asking this, what do you hope to learn from it, and then how can we help you?
