Is it possible to learn any martial arts online?

I've wanted to take a class for a long time but I don't think my parents would let me. Is it possible to learn any martial arts online and if so, where can I for free?

Not really. You need the physical practice, interaction with an instructor or coach, and the feedback from working with other students. While you may learn calculus or another form of mathematics, the essential thing with martial arts is the actual doing of the technique. It needs to be more "reality based" than just working online.

Nothing in life is for free or easy. Whenever someone offers you something that is too good to be true it usually is. Training martial arts alone at home is the same as trying to learn how to swim in your living room. What do you think will happen when someone pushes you in the deep end of the pool?

No. The online stuff is either a rip off or intended to support live training. MA uses precision to produce results. Vids and books cannot correct the small but important errors we all make, when learning. We rely on live, qualified teaching to constantly bring us to higher levels of performance.

No! You can mimic moves and fool yourself into believing that you have learned it, but you have not. To learn you need an instructor that knows what to correct and training partners to work out with. And that partner training/sparring needs to be done with the instructor present so he can correct you as you learn. There has never been anyone that has been self trained that is any good.

...

It depends entirely on what you mean by "learn".

Did a student who earned an "F" in school learn anything?

What about a student who earned a D- ?

There's your answer.

No not really its in the mind.
