I don't think he's that good. He's solid, for sure. He's probably got the best wrestling at MW, or at least top three, and he's got OK if unremarkable striking, but his version of submission defense is to scream like a girl (see him getting heel hooked vs. Babalu, arm barred in his first match with Paulo Filho in the WEC, arm barred by Jeremy Horn in their last match, etc) There is also no way that he deserved a title shot against Jones, since he's won a grand total of zero matches at 205lbs. He got there because he could run his mouth. In fairness, he's very good at that- he can create interest around otherwise uninteresting match-ups. But as a fighter, he's still pretty one-dimensional, and his mouth has gotten him more attention than his in-ring success. I mean, dude doesn't suck, and he was within minutes of beating Anderson Silva and winning the MW belt the first time they fought, but favorable match-ups and a big mouth have gotten him more in the last three or four years than actually being a "great" fighter.
ok so I have watched and loved Chael since the beginning. Im in the navy and we make a huge thing out of the UFC and all my friends say he is crap. do you agree?
