Is aikijujitsu practical for street defense?

Aikido, Ju-Jitsu, Aiki-Ju-Jutsu are mostly joint-locsk, throws & takedowns, which are useful in SD but they are not your main weapon. Atemi (striking) is your main weapon, you use Atemi initially and then as someone falls or reacts an opportunity will arise to perform wither a lock or a take down.

You don't go looking for throws/locks from the off. So they are useful when combined with Atemi yes.

Depends on the school and the teacher. I have seen Aiki that was really good and definitely usable in self defense. Unfortunately, I have seen just as much totally useless Aiki too. Some of it is downright dangerous to the person doing it.

I'd suggest watching videos of aikijujutsu to see what it looks like. Im pretty sure aikido the child of aikido.

I wanted to train in sambo but no gym in northwest Indiana :(

And yes I know I should check out the class but is aikijujitsu flow based (aikido, sambo, wing chun) or technique based (karate, judo, kenpo)
