I don't get wwe?

I'm sure wwe is fake like fake punches and stuff but why do people enjoy it if it's acting and fake and maybe scripted. Seems stupid

It's the suspense really. The cheesy story builds up the fight and you end up rooting for one side or the other. Then you suddenly want that guy to win. At that point it no longer matters if it's real or not. The will to find out whether the character will win is still there.

Yeah... I didn't like pro-wrestling before I watched it. I enjoyed it and started to understand it while watching it. Don't care to go back and start watching it again now that I don't have a roommate that watches every Friday.

bcoz its entertaining

I'm not a particular fan of the WWE's current product, but I'm a fan of pro-wrestling in general. My personal flavor of choice is the Japanese "strong style" popularized by New Japan during the late '80's into the '90's.

To me, pro-wrestling is performance art. These guys are telling a story. Without knowing anything about the two guys in the match, good story-tellers will let you know who to cheer and who do boo though their actions. They'll have you rooting for one guy by making him sympathetic. Maybe they do a spot early on where he "injures" a body part, and the other guy starts attacking it; maybe one guy will follow the ref's instructions to the letter, while the other guy will break the "rules" by pulling hair, poking the eyes, etc. There tends to be a distinctive narrative pattern.

I know people who like pro-wrestling because of the over-the-top characters. This is particularly noticeable in Mexican pro-wrestling, known as "lucha libre". The wrestlers wear colorful masks or makeup (well, not all of them) that portray them as caricatures. It's similar, but generally toned down, in the US. Nobody believes that The Undertaker is actually a supernatural zombie who can shoot lightening, but the character of The Undertaker allows for some entertaining storylines that, unlike most television programs or comic books, you get to see happen live, right before your eyes.

Another feature that attracts fans is the athleticism involved. The above-mentioned Undertaker is legitimately over six and a half feet tall, and around 300lbs, but has the agility to walk on the top ring rope like it's a tightrope. Guys like Rey Misterio and Sonjay Dutt flip around the ring, and their opponents, like acrobats. Getting back to the WWE, it's been known since the '80's for it's large, body-builder types; it's a spectacle come to life.

And yes, guys really get hurt. They suffer broken bones and concussions. Every time you see blood, it's real, though in many cases it's because the guys cut themselves. But the majority of the guys in the WWE have been out of action at one time or another for injuries to their necks, backs, knees, or shoulders. You can't "fake" falling six feet up onto plywood, night after night; you can take steps to mitigate the damage, but the human body wasn't designed to be used as a battering ram. You can't "fake" lifting a 250lbs guy up onto your shoulder. The point I'm trying to make here is that it's OK to not like it; it's not for everyone. You either enjoy it or you don't. But I would ask that you respect the athleticism, as well as the sacrifices to their bodies, that pro-wrestlers make when performing. In Japan, where they're known for working "stiff" (with a higher degree of impact), several performers have actually died from cerebral hemoraging from the moves they've performed in-ring: Plum Mariko, Shinya Hashimoto, and Mitsuhara Misawa all spring to mind.

Why do people enjoy martial arts movies? They are acted and scripted too and people watch them and enjoy them. If you don't like it, why worry about it? Find something positive to focus on, something you enjoy. It will make your life better rather than dwelling on the negative stuff and sweating the things you don't like.

Those guys are without a doubt amazing athletes but it's all scripted and fake.

Pro wrestling is a "soap opera" for men. Like any other kind of "performance" it relies on the audiences "suspension of disbelief." Stephen King, J.K. Rowling, and other notable writers get their readers to temporarily believe that what they're seeing "could be real" and it captivates them. That's "suspension of disbelief" in a nutshell. If you ever take a creative writing course you will learn about this concept.

Sports entertainment (pro wrestling) is a form of athletic theater. It's like Shakespeare in the squared circle instead of Shakepeare on stage.

Real wrestling (catch-as-catch-can) which Stu Hart started off in was "boring" to most fans. So, several creative geniuses like Vince McMahon Sr. (Vince's father) decided that audiences would be more "entertained" by scripted matches with colorful characters, than they would by seeing legitimate bad @$$es like George Hackenschmidt and Frank Gotch lock up and wrestle until one of them tapped out or passed out. Hence, "Sports Entertainment" was born, and the top performers today make millions of dollars per year. It's like acting. Most actors can't "fight well", and most fighters can't "act well." Being good at one thing usually means that they never had enough time to train at the other.

There are a few exceptions in pro wrestling like Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, Brock Lesnar, and Bobby Lashley where the wrestlers are legitimately "tough men", but most guys who make it to TNA or the WWE were never legitimately tough fighters.

Wwe wrestling is scripted but not entirely fake. The wrestlers do take real hits to make it look as real as possible, but 100% real is physically impossible. If it was 100% real, the wrestlers would either be dead or crippled! As far as why do people like it if it is scripted? Why do people like movies when they are fake and scripted? The answer is,PURE FICTIONALISED ENTERTAINMENT! Proud wwe fan of 24 years!

Due to the "soap opera" plots as well as the high risk moves that its fans find exciting.

Also, let's add that a fair portion of fans are gullible enough to think it's all REAL!
