Hurt neck in a guillotine?

This is what we call a burner - it is when you have been caught in a submission that is not applied with quality technique. So when you don't tap they wrench the submission tighter. It doesnt tighten the submission it actually injures or maims somewhere else.

When he did not get the submission he wrenched it more and had cranked the neck. Normally this is just a strained burning muscles and can feel uncomfortable to move however it can also create much more serious injuries. So consulting a doctor is a good start especially since it is the neck. You should move it as little as possible until you have it checked out.

This was caused by bad technique not your failure to tap. If the technique was perfect and you were late to tap you would be asleep and wake with a sore throat as the guillotine is a trachea choke. Instead this guy has injured the neck because of flawed technique so he didnt get the choke he was cranking your neck instead. This is usually an inexperienced grappler that causes this.

I would not do anything till it is checked out with a doctor and then maybe a day or 2 off.

Doctor as probably got a MRI or something line that in your near furture if its a really bad injury probably a month or so off depending on how bad it is.

This is a question for your doctor not us. We are not doctors and even if someone here is he can't examine you. Only a doctor can or should be advising you as to if it is OK for you to train tomorrow. Be smart and go see the doctor. If not you risk worse problems.

sleep with some ice on it

it if feels better in the morning then u can box

if u feel pain then u cannot box

stop acting like a wuss

So, today in MMA we were doing some grappling and we started sparring. I got into a guillotine hold and tapped a second too late, that caused me to feel a huge amount of pain in the back of my neck. My trainer then applied some tiger balm to the back of my neck. After the immense burning feeling done by the tiger balm it became better. The back of my neck still hurts a little bit when I roll my head backwards. Tomorrow we have boxing and we'll probably gonna spar. Can I go or should I wait until it properly heals?
