How to use the savate front kick to the shin?

There is no real benefit to kicking the shin. Inside or outside maybe to get someone off balance. If your going to throw something throw it with intent unless it's a feint.

If you use this kick by itself then you will get struck in the face and be telegraphing your strikes. this is why you lead with some punches first, they csan even be open hands where they are back pedaling and not looking to cover the leg strike. Also the last thing i would be doing is targeting the shin. The strike is aimed at targeting the knee and/or bottom of the the Rectus femoris, Vastus Medialis or the Vastus Latiralis just above the knee.

Depends Shae, if somebody was stepping forwards I might drop one in on their lower shin in a kind of half-sweep, half kick that won't do any real lasting damage. Their leg folds back and they effectively land on their knee.

For street fighting purposes.

Its a great kick fast economical easy, natural, fast, fast to get back to 2 legs, and it ******* hurts to the shin with shoes on, so unless they have become highly pain tolerant due to adrenaline or drugs etc then it takes all the emotional urge to want to fight out of them.

Thing is it seems to make you vulnerable to straight punches, or just general punch counters. Its very VERY common for a guy to be gunning for your face wiith punches on the street.

How would you use this kick while avoiding the punch counters?

Or would you simply not use this kick?
