How to do a Wall Flip?

An instructor will have you start by doing a regular back flip. These exercises will begin by him/her holding your torso as you get used to flipping your feet over your head and landing properly. Sometimes, you might start with a diving board and land in water so that you can remove the fear of the flip.

Next, the instructor will have you step up on a stationary object.

After that, the wall flip will be mildly different than stepping up on the object; the difference is with the object, you're stepping down; with the wall, you control the height and pressure against the wall. Friction acts as if you stepped up on an object in your earlier phases of learning.

So, for you to want to go right into the wall flip without going through the initial steps is like learning to walk before you crawl. This happens, but for most people, it is necessary to first learn to crawl. Skipping the progress for wall flipping can be dangerous, and if you do it wrong, you'll be drinking 3 meals a day from a straw for the rest of your life.

My guess would be you will do a wall flip, won't like how you landed which will most likely be on your head and decide you need to learn the back flip first after all if you are lucky enough to not sustain an injury from the attempted wall flip. Some people like to learn the hard way and you seem to be one of them. Good luck. Bet you learned to run before you learned to walk too.

Hello! I'm 13 years old, almost 14. And I really want to do a wall flip. I'm 5'5. I looked at some youtube tutorials, but most of them say "You need to know how to do a back flip first." Is there a way to just ditch the back flip and do a wall flip? I don't have a trampoline. I also can't do a back flip. I want the wall flip to be my first flip I've done. Is there ways or tricks that will help you develop a wall flip without a backflip? Please answer, it'll be much appreciated. Thank you.
