How do you get over backflip fear?

One way to ease into the backward motion is to use the wall while doing a back bend.

Just stand with your back to a wall, a few feet away, raise your arms all the way up and then keep going backward till you can touch and see the wall, now slowly walk down the wall with your hands by leaning on the wall to support you from falling, keep going all the way down to the floor and then walk back up the wall with your hands till you're standing again.

I'm not sure if that sounds difficult to someone who has never done it, but it's really easy. If you can do that till you are comfortable doing it fast then you can eventually do a back bend without a wall, and then you can eventually do a back handspring which is basically a backbend with little jump and it's almost automatic getting your feet over once your hands make contact to the floor. Then finally, you can work on a back flip with less fear.

Doing a back dive into a pool isn't hard either, you just put your hands together above your head and lean backward till you fall in the pool, sounds scary I guess but it's easy once you do it.

you would have to start with a backhand spring. I trained myself on fluffy mattresses and piles of leaves, but it would be better to get someone to spot you. mabey run my a gymnastics place and ask for a quick lesson

Take Gymnastics.

I don't think it makes sense to attempt a backflip without a spotter who knows what he is doing. . Because without one, you might break your neck...

This has nothing to do with martial arts

Ok so im pretty athletic and I want to get into tricking, but I cant even bring myself to do a backflip. I have nobody to spot me, and I dont have anything like a mattress or a trampoline. I cant even bring myself to to a back handspring, its just something about being upside down and not being able to see the ground. Please dont say "just man up and do it". When I was learning a front flip thats what I did and I flipped out in the air and broke four toes and a metatarsal. Maybe a progression? I dont want to break my neck
