How do I become a UFC fighter?

Hi Ricardo,

I train at American Top Team in coconut creek, Florida. If you are keen to MMA, training is like a job, you simply have to put in the hours. Find a good mma gym, good trainers, good partners, and learn. The biggest issue of all is don't be so quick to brag about yourself, you are young and have tons to learn, we all do, doesn't matter if your a black belt in bjj, or you are actually a UFC fighter, there is always much to learn and always room to become better, faster, stronger, etc. However good you think you are, you aren't, and that's not trying to sound mean, that's just the truth. The majority of us when we get into MMA for the first time, we tend to think we have a bit of experience and an 'x-factor' that makes a step ahead of the game, in reality we don't have anything.

You don't have to attend to college, however it would be highly beneficial. 1- an education is always a brilliant thing, you never know, you could become the greatest fighter of all time, however injuries happen, and it's good to have a back up plan. 2- wrestling in college is beyond beneficial, the conditioning, the workouts, the grind, the work ethic, it's second to none, you will really develope your ability to work hard on those wrestling mats, also key to cutting weight. I 100% recommend college for education and for the athletics as it will help you tremendously to becoming a fighter.

There are no real qualifications to becoming a pro mma fighter, almost literally anyone can sign up to a local card and become a pro fighter barring they are 18 years of age and in good standing health. You need to win some fights, face some good competition, you can always try out for The Ultimate Fighter TV show if you have 3 pro fights under your belt, doesn't mean you will make it on, but at least you can try out for it. You need to have a good standing record, as in a dozen or close to a dozen fights with little to no losses with good finishes. It is highly beneficial to join a good gym, mostly a well known gym, as they can help get you good fights, as well as they will have connections to the UFC. Gyms like ATT, Jacksons, Quest, Reign, Alliance, Blackzilians,

Making it to the UFC is not easy, it's a long, long process, and you literally have to fight your way there. Biggest thing, train, for years, don't skip days, participate in wrestling, grappling tournaments, AFTER years of training, tell your gym you are interested in fighting and go from there. Good luck to you.

Oh great, another 15 year old kid who thinks he is the $hit because he trained a few weeks.

I'm 15 and I really love to fight.. It's my thing.. I just discovered that fighting is my passion.. I started to do MMA about a month ago and I'm already good with my punches I'm pretty fast and accurate with them.. I also do jiu jitsu and wrestling.. But my question is.. How will I make it in the ufc? Will I have to go to college? And how do I make i become like a famous ufc fighter?
