How are self defense classes like?

What you describe could be anything.

I know of classes that are very hands on and work on positioning, how to counter a knife attack, and even how to disarm someone with a gun.

Others are more talk. They'll go over the basics of being aware of whats around you, how to look confident, etc.

The only way for you to know what the class will be like is to contact the instructor.

A "self-defense" class is a very generic term that can mean a broad range of possible training. Without providing more specific information, there is no way anyone here can tell you what kind of self-defense class is offered at your college and therefore what to expect from it.

Why don't you ask the teacher or your college counselor?

Self defence courses are not aimed at making you a fighter by any means.

They are aimed at trying to offer you an insight into ways of escaping unfortunate situations. its not perfect because every scenario ids different and it is much different in real life, but it is most definately a good start to confidence building and it can save your life. i know people who have been helped by these classes

Hi guys. I'm 18 (male). My college offers a "Self Defense" course in two days a week in evenings and I'm thinking of taking it (Just something I wanted to take on the side. Need the confidence). I was just wondering how the average self defense course is like, what you learn and other stuff. Thanks a lot.
