Has Martial Arts helped you in a street fight?

Try learning from a Muay Thai gym around your area. You won't find a traditional muay thai gym, but they will teach you brutal fighting techniques using 8 points of your body to strike an opponent down. If the teacher is legit enough, he will also teach you throws, locks, and breaks. That's all you really need IMO, and you can use it to easily defeat any opponent you come across. It would be safe to learn some form of Ground based martial art, in case you are taken down. Wrestling would be alright, but it has it's disadvantages. I'd say go for BJJ (Brazillian Jui jitsu), or Judo, I'd prefer Judo. Most martial arts these days really DON'T work in a street fight, because it's more about money than actual teaching. The martial arts that are all about point sparring and flashy-ness, are the ones to avoid if you're wanting to truly protect yourself outside of a ring. Those martial arts include, but are not limited to; Taekwando, and Karate. The only way you'll learn useful forms of either one of these, is if you go to Japan. But, Muay Thai and Judo are your best two bets, they'll help you with any aspect of a fight, even if they have a weapon and you don't.

Any experience martial artist that have had to use their skills and techniques to fight off someone? It seems whenever you watch a fight video, everyone always says, "Martial Arts doesn't work in the streets." or "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face and then its just brawling no technique." I've been working at a club and the popularity of it is rising and the business is expanding. My employer wants me to take up some form of Martial Arts for my safety and better protection of the patrons. So far i'm thinking Krav Maga because knives are a thing I see a lot being used, but usually we can talk them out from using it. Or Jiu Jitsu, because I've heard it is more useful in the streets. So is any of these forms of training going to give me a better advantage during a fight scenario? Usually I have just relied on muscle or words to get rid of an unruly patron.
