he linage of the shotokan dojo looks good, im fimular with a few people in his linage but not the instructor of the school

also try http://www.psugenbukai.net/index.html

im not sure of the others

you have to ignore kw he is upset that he went to a school for 10 years that was a mcdojo, and only found out last week that it was. the style he trained in never existed.

the part that kw wont tell you is that there are just as many mc-mma gyms popping up as well. but he would rather lie about the facts

this is a ruff guide to a mcdojo, and never sign long term contracts

TMAS seems to be good. They teach Classical Jujutsu, which is outstanding.

There is also a Seidokan in Blairsville - maybe for from you. But this school teaches Karate the old way, which is the only way.

Rothrock trained under Master Leung Shum in NYC and has played in several martial arts movies. I don't know about her enough.

Most importantly, you must go to the schools and ask questions.

Come back here and give feedback on your interviews.

Remember - YOU ARE PAYING.

Take notes and visit the more classical schools.

There are MMA mcdojos just like all other Traditional and Classical styles. Nothing is "bulletproof" in that sense.

Nothing...meaning...nothing is safe...no one is safe. Oh god...you know what that means? It's started! We're all F!CKED! It's spreading EVERYWHERE!!!!

Looking for a good Martial Arts place in Pittsburgh. I moved here a few months ago and have been looking around but have yet to make a final decision. I was wondering if anyone had experience with traditional martial arts in the area, and barring that, if anyone has a suggestion on the styles of the schools I'm interested in.

I want something traditional and am more interested in conditioning and physical discipline than self defense - I'm more likely to defend on my firearm than my physical prowess in an actual life or death situation. I have some (very) basic combat training from the military, but other than that my only experience was as a small child with ATA Taekwondo which I only vaguely remember.

I'm also worried about one of these being a McDojo as I believe I would be unable to identify such a school. Even if you don't have direct experience with these styles/schools, any comments on their potential to be a McDojo would be appreciated.

Anyhow, these are the schools I'm looking at (the ones that seem most credible with good instructors and work with my school schedule):

Rothrock's Kung Fu Academy (Ying Jow Pai/Eagle Claw style) - http://www.rothrockskungfu.com/index.html

Pittsburgh Shotokan - http://www.pghshotokan.org/

Isshinryu Karate Academy - http://ikapgh.com/

Young Brothers Tae Kwon Do - http://www.youngbrotherstkd.com/

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
