Does this look like a good karate school?

Looking at the video they provide from youtube this is the system I learned from my father way back in the '60s. Although I didn't train in a formal setting, I was taught the practical applications of Karate for combat and self-defense.

If what they are teaching is the same as what they show, as long as you are focused and serious about your training this should be an exceptional training center. The one thing that did give me concern however is that the website says nothing about practical application training for self-defense. This is something you should talk with the instructor about. I would tell them I wanted to be able to do what I saw in the video clips of the full contact competitions.

The website looks fine. You are on the right path by visiting the school and please do not base your decision on the website.

Take the trial class like you said. Visit several schools before you decide.

I am looking at starting karate classes and I have been looking around at different schools. I have no experience dealing with martial arts schools but I have read up on it a fair bit.

Does this school seem like it is fairly reputable?

I know it is probably hard to tell but if you could give me a few tips on what to look for and what to avoid then that might help :)

I will of course do a trial class before I start anywhere.

Any experienced opinions appreciated :)

Thanks
