Most schools in the the US and elsewhere are extremely watered down. Very much. This is what true Krav should be like:
It's hard to find a really good Krav Maga school in America. I would try to make sure that they have some type of connection with Israel to make sure that they're legit. I did legit Krav Maga for almost 2 years or so. It's difficult to learn if it's at a legit school. I've also been to a watered down school and it was pretty easy. Just make sure it's a legit school. I really can't stress that enough...
most krav maga places teach crap and techniques that will get you killed
krav maga has two version the military version and the civilian self defense course, the only way to learn the military version is to join the Israeli army other wise its the civilian version you are learn. and that is nothing more then a striped down martial art with no substance.
if you want to learn self defense find a martial arts school with a good instructor and train hard.
I do not like Krav Maga and its the only style i truly dislike and have no respect for because It is not the truest form because it is so watered down. It is basically a self defense course. That in my eyes fails its duty of care to its students. My experience with the people who trained it was that it put down other styles and flat out said other styles were rubbish.
I had the head instructor of the course tell me that in 15 years that no one had beaten him, not even 2 people at once. i made him tap in less than a minute. The style is basically a military style but it could not be used on the street so they water it down to allow civilians to use it. The watered down version is complete rubbish. The traditional training you recieve in Israel in the military is definately the real deal.
If you are after a quick self defense course then Krav Maga is it. but if you are after more indepth knowledge and talent as well as self defense then choose another martial art.

From what I remember of the art, it is meant to be learnt quickly and easily. But I have never taken a class in the art, so i don't know.
It is a very good martial art, I practiced it for about a month and I can honestly say it is really effective when it comes to street fighting because just about anything goes.

My boyfriend suggested that I take these lessons and from what I have seen on YouTube it looks absolutely amazing. I am definitely going but before I do I would like to know how difficult or easy it is to Learn and how long did it take you?
I have seen books that claim it is easy, but I'm not buying it!
