Do sap gloves work?

There are a variety of these devices. Most all are expressly forbidden under most all state laws. They fall under the same statutes that prohibit "clubs, billies, saps, slung shots..." that sort of thing.

Also, they are not designed for what you think they are. All the examples I've seen are intended for police use and have the weighted section in the palm. The idea is to deliver a "slapping" blow to the side of the head or the jaw to render the receiver unconscious...

At one time, this was felt to be a "less than lethal" weapon, but it's been found that they (this entire class of weapons) tend to cause brain damage and large lawsuits were filed by and won by victims of same.

Get yourself a leather jacket and some motorcycle gloves. Riders gloves often have a resin/plastic/kevlar covering over the knuckles and make a lovely crack when you hit people, aren't as much of a bother to lug about as sap gloves and can actually be talked away if you ride a bike.

That and riding a motorcycle is actually damn good fun.

They are illegal in most if not all states in the U.S.A. They are likely to be illegal in other countries too. And for a good reason. No one that has them uses them for self-defense. They use them to catch people unaware so they can rob them or do something else to them.

...

yes it is!

Maybe .

Ive herd a lot about sap gloves and i wanted to buy some for self defence I'm well trained in boxing but i wanted some for say a group attack but I wanted to know if they really hurt if u get punched by them or are they better then bare fist or do they work at all in general. I've also herd about carbon fibre hard knuckle glove are these any good either
