Most of what you see in movies is so heavily choreographed that while it may have roots or some techniques from a style, it is so far off and so heavily over-exagerated that you can hardly call it anything other than choreography.
Lauro Chartrand was the fight choreographer, he has a background in Karate, and some dabbling in other styles. Essentially he is a movie fu guy. His only rank is in Shito-Ryu Karate. He basically works with what looks good, and what an individual performer can pull off.
