Sambo is a Russian (Soviet) martial art that comes in a few different flavors, but since your'e comparing grappling styles, let's stick with Sport Sambo. In this version, participants wear jackets called kurtkas, as well as belts, shorts, and soft wrestling shoes. The jacket and belt may be gripped to throw or control an opponent. Matches are won by a "clean" throw, pinning the opponent, making them submit via arm or leg lock, or on points. Chokes are banned. There are other variations, like Freestyle Sambo which allows for chokes, and Combat Sambo that includes (but doesn't really score) strikes.
