Could a master martial artist beat 5 men at once?

Depends largely on the 5 men. If they are the average man in his 30's( hit the gym ever once in a while poor diet, no cardio) yeah a master martial would be in a good situation to win. there is a video on youtube of a martial artist (probably boxer but not specified) whooping many guys in the middle east outside a mosque.

I'm not a "master" but five average guys could be a handful or it could be a nightmare. But yes it's possible to not only hold your own against them but to beat all of them all pretty bad.

it really depends on where you're located, and how you use what's available. The key against multiple attackers is to make it so they all can't get you at once. I you can do that you can not only survive but "win". If not it's going to be a horrible situation for you.

As for the gauntlet, if you mean one attacking at a time, that's a function of your conditioning and how they attack you. Most untrained folks can be taken out pretty quickly if they're charging you and you know what to do.

Depends. Does the muay thai fighter have a gun?

There are some legends out there about people who did that a long time ago back when Martial arts were meant to be lethal rather than for sport. I guess if someone was trained at they were back then and the 5 guys had no idea it could be possible. There are some documents (in Oki hogan) of Motobu taking on ten people at once but this was a man who at 50 knocked out a professional boxer so obviously not your typical modern Martial artist.

Looking at some of the special forces of today, if someone trained like that it could be possible but don't know how someone would safely prove this

Anybody can be beaten on any given day. You could have bad luck and slip and fall and get swarmed.

5 weak untrained incompetent assailants would highly be unlikely. Five overbearing bullies can still be incompetent and still dangerous.

Could he? Yes, it is possible.

Would he? Not enough information is provided.

Should he? It depends on his reasons for fighting.

Lets say a extremely skilled muay tai master had to take 5 completely unarmed and untrained average men at once could he win? Could he take any of them at all? What is he had to face them one on one in a gauntlet could he beat any of them?
