Could a karate gi protect you from a zombie bite?

I mean, I practice karate and my sensei's gi is really think, its a 12oz one, so could it technecally protect against a bite?

What can we do with out barbarians? Create some fictional as ti seems.:)

Absolutely not. First of all, the gi does not protect your brain which is what the zombie is going for. Second, a zombie is biting with maximum human strength, or the equivalent force of a person jacked up on PCP. No karate gi or even judo gi is going to be able to stop a full force adult human bite. You'd be better off wearing tactical body armor. I don't know why you would think a gi could stop a zombie bite.

No, when we tested this out the zombies all bit the Karate guys, now we have martial art zombies running around trying to bite people, soon there will be Mcdojo Zombie schools for the inferior Zombies.. but a Jiu Jitsu/judo gi will, we tested them on a pack of zombies and they had no luck getting through, now the world must rely on the Jiu Jitsu and Judo guys to rid the world of the evil karate zombies

Normal karate gi, no. Judo gi, double weave, maybe. Karate gi is made of lighter material so that it breathes better and it doesn’t restrict you, but that also means the cloth isn’t much of a protection. Judo gi is made really tough with thick materials because it has to withstand constant pull and tug of a judo throw. I can see double weave judo gi doing something to protect you, single weave will protect from the actual teeth but pressure might still break skin, and karate gi will give you no chance.

Couple of factors.

1) Is your gi thick enough to stop a canine from piercing it? If not, you're in trouble, game over.

2) Assuming that 1) holds true, you might nevertheless start to bleed from the teeth tearing your skin. You must then consider the porousness of the jacket - if saliva can pass through it, the virus can presumably spread to your blood.

3) Why are you letting the zombies get into grappling/biting range? Use a weapon if you can to keep them at bay, and if none are available (hard to imagine) then control their range and watch out for their desperate lunges.

I've seen some guys starch their gis to oblivion. No kidding. You can stand them up in the corner. Me? I don't have that kind of time. But if you do that, you can certainly wear it as armor.

it's better than nothing but as long as the zombie got its teeth through there it won't be enough. You'll need full armor to be safe
