Could I be good at MMA knowing I'm small?

what'd the ideal body for MMA. I'm a 16 year old female 5'1 & I weight 113 so yeah...

Being "good", in other words being skilled at the skills and techniques taught in an MMA setting, is not dependent upon your size. It may depend on other things, but size itself has no bearing on the skill you develop.

Whether you're able to function against someone outside your weight is another issue. In competition, MMA has weight classes, so you'll be competing against someone your size, but in training, you pair up with whoever happens to be in class. This will actually be to your benefit. You'll have to develop specific skills for dealing with larger, stronger opponents, which will compose most of the outside population.

Train consistently. Study footwork, combos, set ups and drill them every day.

I weigh 200lbs and had to spar with a woman recently who was close to your height and weight. My strength advantage was obvious but her flexibility and technique made her a serious training partner. Damn near dropped me on my head too, plus leg locks around the head suck......flexibility.

if your a female u job is to stay at home and cook the meals

and keep the house clean

leave the fighting to men before something nasty happens to u

Didn't you ask something like this yesterday?

I think you have a bit of a self esteem issue going on. You are who you are. It doesn't matter if you're going to be an amazing MMA fighter someday or not. Train for fun and happiness, not because you expect yourself to become great someday. If that day is in your future, there will be signs to let you know along the way.

Just go and train and enjoy it! You'll get better and better with every day that you get on the mats. Right now, the NUMBER ONE thing that is holding you back is your own doubt. Just go train and focus on getting better, not on what kind of body type you have.

Well how small you are shouldn't matter how well you perform in amateur or professional bouts because the weight class will fit you in with the other girls of your size. Rather the problem is are there bouts for someone your size. Unfortunately not many girls tend to go pro in sports and being small and light is going to make finding a match for you even harder. I suppose you could gain weight to fight in higher weight classes, but that would mean you would always be at a reach disadvantage. You could still be great when reach disadvantage, but it is going to make your journey that much harder. So there's that for amateur and pro bouts. If you are just looking to train and not compete then I'd say go for it. Like before you will have reach disadvantages and you'll likely be weaker than the men you might end up training with, but as your skills increase you'll be able to beat lower level even if they have the reach and strength advantage.
