Can you step on fighters stomach (MMA)?

an you step on someones stomach in a fight or possibly in the ufc to escape a submission? meaning is it legal to do?

You can step, but not stomp, in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) competition under the Unified Rules, which the UFC follows.

In a "fight" there are no such rules.

That said, I can't picture any submission where stepping on their stomach would be a good idea, if at all possible. It's better to understand the holds so that you can use leverage to break the hold.

Yes, you can step on a fighter stomach in MMA.

The pride organization allowed it's fighters to stomp their opponents stomach because it was brutal a brutal sport.

However, you are allowed to put your foot on your opponents stomach in the UFC. If that is considered a step?

Edit: You can perform the move from a standing position but you can't use it to break out of a submission. The rules are different for standing and ground positions. Therefore, it will be illegal!

Not really stepping but you can place your foot on it, but you can't stomp on it(unless we're talking Japanese MMA rules or Vale Tudo) , also to be honest depends on the submission, we'll assume you mean leg locks, the heel hook or Achilles lock in which case it's probably not best to try from a standing position or your balance we'll be compromised and you'll get swept , and the leg lock will get locked in tighter , if you are already on the ground and need to escape it's more important you defend the leg getting locked first than trying to trust to luck that pushing off their stomach will get you out of there , basically though from any scenario with one guy standing and one on the ground the guy standing is at risk of having his balance compromised and ending up in a worse position if he tries something like that , on the ground it's just as likely you'll have your balance compromised it's about the placement and movement of your whole body, there's no magic pressure point that will help you get out of a submission, it requires a few steps to do it right ,

Yep! I once watched a fool step on his opponents neck to avoid an armbar applied from the ground position in the ufc. Bas Rutten approved, it worked too!

Why would you want too? Honestly that is just screaming for a leg lock. Knee on belly is much more practical and yes that is allowed.
