Can capoeira be used as self defence?

I know it is a cultural and historical martial arts. But could it be used as a form of self defence?

Watching people "play" Capoeira.... It's very difficult to see how any of these techniques would be practical.

Now, these guys are very fit and agile and all... But I imagine that even a relatively low-ranked BJJ practitioner would eat them alive.

Yes. Capoeira has a lot of moves that can neutralize an attack. Capoeira is not typically thought of as a self defense fighting system, but it has many moves that can cause a lot of damage to an unprepared assailant.

proof capoeira can work in fighting or street fighting

that was the purpose of the style when it was created.

all martial arts can be used. it depends upon the persons ability's

So..

A good program you can following is http://www.downloadita.it/r/rd.asp?gid=4... It teaches some self defence moves and tecniques to protect you and your family in case of violent situations.

Cheers.

It CAN be. The major hiccup is that it's not normally trained with self-defense in mind. "You fight how you train" as the saying goes, and there is a lot I've seen from Capoeira being practiced that wouldn't translate well. The system has an arsenal of kicks, sweeps, takedowns, and head butts, even hand techniques (though they're not emphasized as much), but the "roda" trains the "game" of Capoeira. It doesn't adequately simulate the conditions one is likely to face in a real fight, and that's where the problem lies.

it heard like is karate, jijutsu, tkd use as self defense. all style of MA had created for self defense, it had proved so long time but not the style make better but depend on personal.
