Buying a BJJ belt please help?

Since I am about to buy my first gi for bjj should I buy a belt to? Or do they give you one at the gym. Thanks in advance

I dont do BJJj but Most student Gis come with a white belt. If the one you're buying doesn't then ask your teacher. Many of us have extra white belts that we'll give to a student if needed.

You can buy your first belt, However you will be provided a belt when you begin training if you do not have one. Never wash your belt and don't lose your belt. When you grade up they will again provide you with a new belt.

A belt should reflect your journey of training, they will become ratty and soft and extremely used. The more they are used the better they become for chokes because they have more flexibility. I have all my belts mounted on a special framed board. Often my daughter looks at it and compares her white belt to my old white belt (which is more a dirty grey and falling apart lol).
