Best martial arts for self defense?

That's down right sickening, attacking a girl like that. Whatever you decide to study, make sure the instructor takes a practical approach to self defense. Don't be impressed with flashy techniques, like high kicks and acrobatics...they can get you killed in a street confrontation.

Do some research on the following:

Krav Maga, wing chun, shuai jiao, Japanese jujitsu. Filipino martial arts are also known for taking a no nonsense approach. Again, it's not just the art but how it's taught.

I'd say muay thai Its easyer to pick up than alot of other arts and remember never go to the ground because all his friends will get ontop of you and if it's more than one person its good to make it were they have to come at you in almost a line but if there are multiple people there is nothing wrong with using a weapon or fighting dirty like going for the eyes or balls

Depends on what you want to do, some arts emphasize on striking, if u want to smash their face in. Some in throwing or ground work/grappling. Find out what you need for your situation, i do hapkido which is full of joint locks, strikes takedowns and throws so it fits what i want in self defence. Look at what u have in your area and do research on their arts, its ur call on what you want to be taught. Just some thing to avoid is a McDojo. Its a term used to describe martial art schools that teach crappy, but most people dont realize. I went to one for 2 years before finding out about them and looking for a new place. Look up McDojos so u can get a better understanding about what it is so u can avoid them.

Judo is good. You use your opponents weight and momentum against them. I used to take classes. It's fun and doesn't require much strength

I think Kyokushinai teaches power and perfection

I live in a heavily Mexican populated city(San Jose). The Mexicans here go around, jumping people for stupid reasons, like boyfriends and trash talk etc. They mainly target the Vietnamese(who they for some reason think are all Chinese or "Chino") because the majority of us do not fight back and stay away from them. After school when I was walking to 7-11 with my friends, I saw a group of Mexicans "jumping" a small Asian girl I personally knew and cursing at her in Spanish. This scared me, and I knew if this ever happened to me that I should be prepared. I don't have fighting experience because I've never been in a fight with anyone. What type of martial arts is best for self defense? What doesn't require lots of "strength?"
