Best martial art for a skinnier guy?

There is no best martial art. Find one near you with a good qualified instructor and you will be fine. Make sure you enjoy it. If there was a best martial art, everyone would study it and there wouldn't be several out there. If my city we have several. Years ago when I began to seek one out I visited many schools, taking a few months. Eventually I found a great teacher. You have to visit and see. Good luck training.

Martial arts style aren't designed according to a specific body type. Find a good instructor in a style that interests you and go with that.

Boxin'

Body shape is irrelevant.

I fight as a lightweight in TKD and also train in Aikido.

In class you'll spar with all grades and weights

Depends on why you are taking MA. If you are takign them for fun, then BJJ can be great, but it is one of the worst thing you can take for SD, so if that is you goal you need something that is predominantly striking.

Are you looking for competition, just a hobby, self defence?

You always have the option to gain weight.

In all seriousness, do Tae kwon do, Boxing and Judo. The reason is that in TKD quickness is a greater asset than most martial arts. You will be moving in an out striking your opponent with kicks and some punches. Boxing will teach you how to punch and how to take a punch as-well as balance. I threw in Judo because you will need to know how to defend against a ground attack someday and when a boxer or TKD student falls to the ground, they are lost because they have been taught to fight standing up. Judo will not be your main sport but a great one to know.

Focus in TKD or Boxing

there's no martial made for a specific body type

I think you would like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It is a style designed to help a smaller person defeat a larger person.

It doesn't matter. If it comforts you, I took taekwondo and ninjutsu.Your instructor matters

Question to all you martial artists out there. Which martial art better suits a person who is pretty skinny. And 5'6. I'm quick and have very high cardio endurance levels.thanks

i take tai kwon do, and compete competitively. shouldn't matter what you do as long as you train, and as you train, you'll get muscle and not have to worry about being to skinny

Anyone that has a good instructor.

Sumo............ couldnt help myself!!! , doesnt matter what you do as long as it is taught well and you give it honest effort.
