Best Martial art for self defense?

Wing Chun was going to be my suggestion, but I see you've already thought of it. It focuses on a relatively small number of techniques and principles which can be used in many combinations. I'd say you are on the right track.

Okay, so you think that because Krav Maga addresses defending against a knife or gun attack you can't use it against an opponent in a fist fight? Then there really is no reason to talk to you about martial arts at all because you obviously con not comprehend the most basic aspect of all martial systems. Hope you find what you are looking for, but considering your limited perception of what makes a martial system effective, not to mention that after two years you think you understand Aikido to the point of deciding it's uselessness, I doubt you will ever be happy no matter which system you participate in.

Well, kick.boxing muay Thai and jiu jitsu all run hand in hand together. If you learned then you would be prepared for all.

Although kick boxing is more or a sport and exercise than it is an MA it can be very effective with the different kick styles and then muay Thai and jiu jitsu grappling and punching/jabbing techniques would be very very effective. Most black belt kick boxers I know have a brown or higher is muay Thai or jiu jitsu. So any of those 3 together would be good.

But I am not going to be like most krav maga fans and say its the best and awesome but I did fight a krav maga black belt and I am a brown muay Thai and have kick boxed for a while and he was very effective on reverses and such.

No martial art because the girl biological father put the tez and its in the mind to learn Tai Chi Combat.

Hi,

I recommend this family self defence program that teaches how to win and dominate a violent situation on the street or in your home http://www.downloadita.it/r/rd.asp?gid=4...

I learned Tae Kwon Do and Jujitsu and also boxing. They are all effective, I stopped at a brown belt because being a black belt can lead to legal ramifications.

Krav Maga of course. Self defense is not as same as fighting.

Ok so i've trained in Aikido for two years, and i've seen some drawbacks, for example to be effective both attacker and defender need to move correctly which in a street fight isn't going to happen, now i'm just curious about what martial art would be best to learn for self defence

I'm not just wanting to learn a MA for self defence as i actually like Martial Arts in general (mostly i like the look of the Chinese Martial Arts) i just think that have to ability to know how to defend yourself in say a street fight situation (where lets be honest anything goes) is a good foundation to have

I have thought of possibly learning Wing Chun, and please don't suggest Krav Maga as although that might be a great defence system, it's not itself a martial art and as i live in the UK, more likely to be attack by fists rather than a knife or a gun
