Bartitsu what is it like?

I recently started kickboxing but want to start another Martial art so could you please tell me something about Bartitsu?

I used to know a guy who did karate and he said that bar fighting was really rough because everyone was drunk and did not know how to fight. They fight with anything they can grab and sometimes use weapons to fight with. He said that bar fighting is not a real martial art.

The Bartitsu Society has been researching the history of the art for the past twelve years and, since about 2005, members have also been offering seminars and ongoing courses. It's a "revived" martial art, on the premise that Barton-Wright's original cross-training experiments were abandoned as a work-in-progress in 1902. The revival aims to continue those experiments as a collaborative, open-ended and open-source project; different instructors have different aims and approaches within that overall goal.

The Bartitsu Society website is a one-stop-shop for articles on Bartitsu history, news of the revival, etc. It also maintains a list of modern Bartitsu clubs and study groups.

Where the hell do you find Bartitsu in modern times?

It was a creation of a fellow named Barton-Wright (the name being a portmanteau of "Barton" and "jujitsu"), and combined elements of cane fighting, boxing, classic Jujitsu, and Savate, and probably a bit of wrestling, too. It really didn't last that long as an institution, and I think any modern folk practicing it are re-creators, as opposed to "decedents" of the original school.
