Backflip help?

Posted at: 2014-09-13
You can't just do a tuck jump and expect your body to do a back flip. That's not how it works.

Start standing up straight. It helps to start with your arms up straight by your ears. Stand as tall and straight as you can.

Bend you knees and swing your arms back behind you.

Jump up as high as you can while swinging your arms up towards your ears.

Bring your knees to your chest. That's what will give you the momentum to do a back flip.

Hold your tuck position then land on two feet.

Throw your arms upward and not back, like a football goal, then immediately bring your knees to your chest. You can grab the front or back of knees, then you will rotate and either land on your knees or your feet.

Getting over the fear is the biggest problem. Once you begin to jump, you must follow through or you could get injured.

Maybe throw your arms more forward in the direction of your rotation and where you want to end up rather than down. Just throwing the arms down will also direct your direction and momentum down.

Whenever i try to backflip i have a proper jump and tuck but when my kness come up and i throw my arms down which brings my whole body down and i land on my back with no flip or rotation at all, any advice to help me flip all the way around?
