Odds are in Edgar's corner. Statistically speaking, he has an edge simply by virtue of being younger. He'll almost certainly be better conditioned and work at a higher pace than Penn. This will also be Penn's first time at FW, and going down in weight often can have a detrimental effect on performance, especially in the first cut or so. Plus, Penn notoriously hates conditioning, and that, in addition to his age, will make the cut more difficult. Finally, I just think Edgar's a bad match for him stylistically. Penn likes to fancy himself a boxer these days, and carries more KO power than most guys at his weight, but Edgar's demonstrated a VERY durable chin,and his movement and penchant for combination punching makes me think he'll get the better of the exchanges. Add to that Edgar's ability to use his striking to set up his takedowns and I think he's good to go. Penn's never submitted someone from guard, so unless he can take Edgar's back, I think the best he can hope for in the grappling exchanges is a stalemate.

I think Penn's one of the greatest fighters in MMA history, but given these factors, I think Edgar should be the definitive favorite here.

I heard BJ Penn and Frankie Edgar are fighting at featherweight in the summer. If you're a fan of either then you know Edgar beat him twice. I'm a huge penn fan and I don't want him to lose again if he does his mma career is probably over for good. It's disappointing to watch him get his *** kicked because he's my favorite fighter and I know he can do better. He's training in Brazil with Jose Aldo and Renan Bar?o right now so I feel like he's learning some new advantages over Edgar. So my question is who you think will win this time?
