Am I a right handed southpaw?

Why don't you actually start training before you pick a stance? If you're not even training, it really doesn't matter, does it?

Try sparring and see what stance you revert too. there was a fighter at our club who was naturally left handed but had a stronger right hand. Having tried fighting orthodox we noticed she kept reverting back to southpaw when sparring. See which style you revert too and stick to it, You will be able to develop the strength of your right and the co-ordination of the left.

It's possible to be right-handed but left-footed as well as preferring opposite hands for specific tasks. It's called cross-dominance.

Do left handed

Sounds like it could be a horrible thing if you do it wrong.

Before you throw out an answer read all please.

I've always assumed my fighting stance would be orthodox because I'm right handed, but having given it some thought I believe I'm naturally a southpaw.

For one, though my right hand is more coordinated and accurate when throwing a punch, my left side is definitely stronger.

Second, the southpaw stance feels much more natural. My left leg is much more stable at holding my weight than my right leg.

And third, when I surf/wakeboard/hop on a skate board my left foot is and always has been in back, what is called "goofy footed in those sports"

So am I likely a right handed southpaw?

I've never fought or been involved in martial arts, but I'm considering it.
