About a cool fighting sport, with swords..?

I understand what you mean about fencing. The "just need to hit the other guy"/glorified tag if you will. Fencing while still maintaining some parts of it's roots, and still considered an essential form of swordsmanship for foil, rapier, etc, it has it's problems. There have been several wins where in theory both swordsmen would be dead, but "he stabbed first so he wins".

Get what you mean there.

Back to question.

A-lot of martial arts teach swordsmanship and nearly all swords are made different and thus, handle differently, are wielded differently, and have different technique. Example, the katana is made to cut. The rapier is made to thrust. So they will have different technique.

So, bc of this the first question you need to ask yourself is:

-What do I want to learn?

-What is available to learn in my area?

For Katana look at:

Kendo

Iaido

Some Karate/Karate

Bujinkan Ninjutsu

AKBAN Ninjutsu

Iaijutsu

Battojutsu

Kenjutsu

etc.

There are also the fillipino arts, chinese arts, etc.

As well as medieval swordsmanship. HEMA, and even sword academies.

Be wary. Some of these are just plain awful and are more along the lines of swordbashing/glorified LARP.

One can learn:

Arming Sword/Single Hand

Hand and Half

Longsword

and others.

Also there is the Renaissance arts. Primary styles of swordsmanship is Rapier, Longsword, and Spada de Lata (side sword).

All of these arts maintain true to their original historical context.

Post your whereabouts and I'll be sure to get back to you with more information on what is in your area and surrounding.

Train Hard, Fight Harder

i am basicly thinking to do some sport/material arts that includes swords...

but i don't like it to be like just 'one hit' and over (not fancing ). it should have hard training and lots of actions

got any suggestions?
